Universal PC Drive Bay Cover
Description:
I recently needed to find a drive bay cover for a server I was rebuilding and after searching far and wide, I was unable to find one that would fit the case. So I thought to myself: “Self, why doesn't anyone make one to the specs of a actual drive so it would line up with the screws on the case?”. With that in mind, I set out to find the specs for a typical DVDROM and 3.5 inch floppy drive. Once I found them, I fired up my favorite CAD, FreeCAD, and designed a couple of brackets.
Features:
- Designed to be 3d printed from the start
- Strong filleted connections between the face and “ears”
- Holes sized to fit standard PC screws, #6-32 UNC or M3 (hard drive wide thread or CD ROM narrow thread)
- Chamfers on the holes to help start the screw into the plastic
- Print profile includes some enhancements to strength and quality
- Can be printed on a texted build plate or a smooth build plate for a custom appearance
As always, let me know if you have any questions or problems with the print. Happy printing!
