Description

Holder for Bench Cookie Plus - Optional Mount for Accessories

This is an add-on only: In order to use it please also download corresponding holder from the table below. It fits all 3 main variants (French Cleat, Wall Mount, IKEA Skadis)

Over the years I accumulated several different types of bench cookies from different vendors and it was finally time to put them onto the wall. After the initial release of the French Cleat version I received requests for both wall mount and Skadis versions. So in the end this turned into a full portfolio of Bench Cookie Plus holders with different mounting options. Descriptions below are generic to all versions.

In the meantime it is confirmed by users that this design is also compatible with the Rockler-branded version of the Bench Cookie Plus.

If you use this optional accessory holder, please make sure you do a proper deburring of the bottom side of the top base holder. I use brims in the supplied print profile to make the parts as flat as possible, and a few minor sections of the interface channels are overlapping with these 6 brims. Make sure you clear the bottom channels of the top base holder, so this accessory holder can fit into it. You can then simply glue the parts together. The interface is designed to compensate for some z-tolerance and minor warping.

The holes for the risers are for ¾ inch (19 mm). If there is demand for a 20 mm version please let me know.

Note if you use the French Cleat version of the holder (not needed for Wall Mount nor Skadis): There are separate distance elements which can be glued on the rear to provide additional support (depending on the French cleat spacing they might not be needed). If you have a larger spacing (like on my pictures), I recommend to use it.

The provided print profile is optimized for PLA using very limited infill material. I used 3% and it worked perfectly, and this is really sturdy. Feel free to use more but it is not needed. I used 3 walls given the complexity of the shape with overhangs, and no supports are needed. Best to use the provided print profile which is tested to work perfectly. I print slowly (flow rate < 11) to avoid warping and to get a good surface finish.

Overview of available versions

Mounting optionBench Cookie Plus Holder VersionComment
French CleatOriginal versions with integrated French Cleat interface
Wall MountWeight optimized versions for direct mounting onto a wall via 2 screws, omitting the French Cleat interface
IKEA SkadisStandalone versions further size & weight optimized, interface to IKEA Skadis panels via Skadis T-Clip mini (provided by capze)
AccessoryUse super glue to mount to one of the 8 pcs holders; the accessory holder is available in 1 version only and fits any of the 3 mounting options

Printing notes and additional comments

  • Make sure you select and print the correct version. While you only need to choose the correct mounting option (French Cleat, Wall Mount, Skadis) for the 4 pcs holders, for the 8 pcs holders you additionally need to decide if you need the optional accessory interface version (Standalone or with accessory interface)
  • The Standalone versions omit the bottom interface structure. Due to less structural load requirements it was possible to optimize the infill to consume less material. Furthermore, standalone versions are optimized by overall reduction in height and length (Skadis version only), significantly improving material consumption and print time (while maintaining the same high level of quality).

As there are different types of Bench Dogs available from different vendors (Kreg, Rockler, Trend, MilesCraft, …), you can find other shapes also in this collection.

Have fun printing and I hope you enjoy my design.
