Print Professional Frames at Home

The SnapFrames Generator is a web app that creates custom picture frames of any size, right in your browser.

Pick your dimensions, shape, edge profile, texture, and color. The app calculates the geometry, splits the parts to fit your build plate, and gives you print-ready files. Parts snap together tight, with minimal seams and no glue.

SnapFrames work with any kind of art: photos, prints, HueForge art, colorful 3D pieces, cityscapes, and shadow-box displays. Front lips and snap-in prongs hold your artwork securely, just like a store-bought frame.

 

Why Print Your Own?

We've bought thousands of retail frames for our own art business. Limited sizes, wasteful packaging, shipping damage, and 2D-printed "wood grain" stickers, all at 4x the cost of printing one at home. An 8x10 SnapFrame prints in about 3 hours for around $3 in filament, in exactly the style you want.

Where This Came From

SnapFrames started as a fix for our own problem. We run Micropolitan, a small business making 3D printed cityscapes and map art, and we were tired of settling for store-bought frames.

We shared our first smooth and wood SnapFrame designs on MakerWorld, and the response told us the community wanted the same thing we did - fully custom frames, just as proud to display as your artwork.

The challenge was that custom sizing breaks textures and joinery when you just scale parts up and down. Doing it right took a computational design engine, built for the browser so anyone can use it.

This campaign funded that engine, and its many rebuilds to work through the stretch goals. Thank you for making it real. Follow us on Instagram for more app development previews and updates.

Our Commitment

The campaign delivered, but we're not done. The app gets better every month, backers get every update automatically, and the roadmap is public. All 14 stretch goals were funded thanks to you, and 11 are already live in the app. We're still building the last few (lithophane lightbox, edge-lit, and collage frames), but they'll be worth the wait.
