I'm a dweeb who likes to design and build stuff for whatever I'm pursuing at the moment, including but not limited to microphones and field recording, typewriters and typewriter repair, photography, kite aerial photography (though it's been a while), and home shop machining. I enjoy the freedom of design that 3D printing allows. Within reason, if you can imagine it you can make it. This opens up a lot of design possibilities that were difficult to impossible in the past. The goal of DIY should always be to make something that's not out there, or to make something that's better than what is.
