These filament shelf brackets are designed to use two solid wooden dowel rods (1-inch [25.4 mm] diameter). The rods recess into the left and right side; and snap securly into the optional center support.The files include two sides (left and right) as well as an optional center support for use with longer dowels. There is also a screw hole cover for asthetics, which can be removed later if shelf removal is required. I used 6 foot long closet rods with the center support. These can be found easily and are very cheap from any big-box store. Fully loaded, this version will hold up to 27 spools (about 60 lbs), the rods are very sturdy and could support more weight easily.Use only left and right side (up to 4 feet) Use left, right, and center support for varients over 4 feet. (I would recommend using multiple center supports for variants over 6 feet (At least every 48-inches) ----------------------------------------------------------- Print each part on its side (left and right side should face opposite), I would recommend at least four perimeters and 25 % infill. (I used Polymaker PETG, with Gyroid Infill, and they are extermely sturdy). I printed without support and there was no issue.-----------------------------------------------------------To mount, I used #9 x 2-½ construction screws in studs where I could and drywall anchors when studs were not present. If installing with a drill, make sure to set the clutch and not over-drive the screws. Mine are very surdy without washers but they could be used to distribute the load for added security.The srew holes are 6.5 mm in diameter. The recesses for washers are 18.5 mm in diameter.The mounting can be done alone but having a second person to assist would be helpful. I used a laser level and marked/drilled all screw holes. I mounted the left and center support, added the rods, added the right side support and screwed it in.

<h3>Updates</h3><ul><li>2024-05-21:  Version 2 of the drive gears, handle and caterpillar as well as an updated print profile has been uploaded.<ul><li>The drive gears now leave less play in the system, reducing the chance of jamming, even without lubrication. </li><li>The handle should be less prone to break, but might need some more force to assemble. </li><li>The caterpillar is still delicate depending on your material, but hopefully less so.</li><li> All parts are compatible with the old versions of the other parts.</li></ul></li><li>2424-05-22: Version 3 of the drive gears has been uploaded. They should be even more reliable than version 2. These are also compatible with all other parts regardless of version.</li><li>2424-06-10: Version 3 of the crank handle has been uploaded. It&#39;s available as an handle_v3.stl under files for now, but I&#39;ll update the print profile when I get home.</li></ul><h3>The Model</h3>I&#39;ve always been fascinated by the movements of insects and other small animals, especially worms, larvae and caterpillars. I thought to combine this fascination with my more recent fascination for the conversion of constant mechanical movement into intermittent mechanical movement. This is a simple, abstract automaton of a caterpillar crawling in circles on a leaf. It&#39;s based on, but not quite accurate to what is commonly known as an inchworm, the larval stage of the Geometer Moth.&nbsp;Anyway! You simply turn the crank and watch as the caterpillar crawls its way around the leaf! Here&#39;s a video of it in action: <a target="_blank" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3_RjoHW6k0" rel="nofollow noopener">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3_RjoHW6k0</a><h3>Printing</h3>I used mostly standard settings for all parts except the caterpillar itself, as the tolerances are quite forgiving for the mechanical parts. The covers could benefit from some ironing, though I haven&#39;t tried it myself at the time of writing.&nbsp;No supports are needed if all items are orientated in the intended way. The raw model files have the crank and its handle oriented in a bad-for-printing way.&nbsp;The caterpillar is a delicate part, and requires Arachne wall generation for best chance of a successful print, as well as making it more durable.<h3>Assembly</h3>There are no extra materials or tools needed for assembly, but for smooth operation, depending on the properties of your filaments, some kind of lubrication is highly recommended. Also, the outer lid, while being designed for press fitting, is intentionally not a very tight fit so as to facilitate easier disassembly. For a permanent solution, you could always glue it in place later.<figure class="image"><img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_fd2a6f7698b3c.jpg"></figure>&nbsp;<ol><li>Press the bottom and top driving gears (small, partially toothed gears) together, being mindful of the small pip keeping them correctly oriented to each other. They should hold together simply by friction. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_a739a562340ba8.jpg"> <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_54b52d0fcbe358.jpg">  </li><li>Put the driving gear assembly on the driving axle pin, making sure the toothed side of the bottom gear is pointed downward as seen in the picture. Lubrication on the axle pin, teeth and smooth section of the gears is highly recommended. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_57bf67ce4770b.jpg">  </li><li>Put the big gear with the curved slot on top of the other big gear. Make sure that the bottom gear pin is positioned in the slot as far away from the top gear pin as possible. Hold the two gears together. The teeth of both gears should align. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_84275d2e895b2.jpg">  </li><li>Drop the big gears into the base, making sure that a non-toothed section (any one will do) of the big gear assembly mates with the non-toothed section of the driving gear pair. Also mind the small protrusions on the inside of the base where the lid will sit. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_8ad0d46658121.jpg">  </li><li>Place the outer lid inside the base. The crank hole on the tapered side of the lid really benefits from some lubrication. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_fda1a73d1d43e8.jpg">  </li><li>Press the crank into the hole by the driving gears and and click the crank handle into place at the end of the crank arm. The crank should stay in the hole with friction. Now is a good time to make sure that the mechanism works and feels smooth before the next step. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_b757251dbb313.jpg">  </li><li>Press the center lid into place, minding the small pip that dictates the orientation. Observing the leaf pattern can help as well. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-19_76a497cfbca6.jpg"></li><li>Fit the caterpillar on the moving pins. I found this to be easier in the minimally extended position. The worm may require some bending to make it conform to a nice shape, but I found that after initial tinkering it holds its shape very well. <img src="https://makerworld.bblmw.com/makerworld/model/DSM00000000468733/design/2024-05-21_ea7c449af3816.jpg"></li></ol>Good luck, and let me know if you run into any issues!

Meet Dum-E, the handy desk helper industrial robot. I designed it with purpose in mind as it can function as a phone stand, webcam mount (logitech c920) and a business card holder. It doesn&#39;t end there though, as I aim to develop this platform with further attachments in future. These may be recommended from others and/ or what I think might be useful. I hope you find it useful and please feel free to comment any recommendations for attachments you would like to see in future. I look forward to seeing your different uses/ prints and colour schemes. If the ring is too loose for either side then print Polymaker.B and test again.</li><li>See attached photos</li></ul>Considerations:<ul><li>Print Material: Please print with a basic PLA or PETG to minimize any shrinkage.</li><li>Too Tight? Too Loose? Cardboard expands with humidity and contracts when dried. A cardboard spool that has absorbed too much moisture may cause the adapters to fit very tight. Placing the spool in a filament dryer, such as the SUNLU S2, for a bit should resolve this. Note, you should not dry the spool with the adapters attached as they can warp in the heat. Keep in mind that after a long drying session the adapters may fit too loose. This should resolve itself shortly as the cardboard reabsorbs some moisture from the air.</li><li>AMS Lid Doesn't Close? All of the spool adapters I make are less than the official AMS spool clearance limit of 202mm, as specified on the official AMS product page, and as tested within my own AMS. However, some people have stated their spools are rubbing against the lid with the adapters attached. It's hard to say what's causing this since I cannot reproduce the issue myself, however, I've created an <a target="_blank" href="https://makerworld.com/en/models/33133" rel="nofollow noopener">AMS Lid Riser</a> which allows you to keep your AMS lid closed while providing additional clearance for larger filament spools. This is NASA fabric, it's a super satisfying sheet of hexagonal chainmail that you can fidget with our display. The model isnt fragile so play till your hearts content. The model is fully scaleable and a full bed print was included so you can create your own shapes by deleating indevidual hexagones. Simply import the STL raw model file into the slicer and separate the sheet into parts and delete the ones you don't want. For best results use a small layer size, I used 0.12 mm and it worked excelent. To change the face pattern, adjust the “Bottom surface pattern” I used the Concentric mode which left me with a beautiful hexagonal infill pattern.&nbsp;UPDATE:New geometry makes upgrades this model in every way-Prints in 4 hours at .2mm-Print on either face-More accurate triangle reduction-Slices faster-Less lag when moving in slicer-Now works at .2mm layer height&nbsp;There is also a dragon scale and scnake scale version available on my profile, it looks amazing and is themed for the year of the dragon! Its a great model to use on costumes with color shifting filament.
