After reading a few more remix comments, I see the glass issue isn't an anomaly on my print, so I updated the STP, STL, and .3MF models to include the 1mm (0.25%) front-to-back stretch. As a guy with a career in product design, let me first say that Ben did a really nice job on this riser design. There's a lot of thought, time, and effort in this design. After printing a copy, I did have a couple of issues. After trying to figure out quick fixes, I went down the remix rabbit hole and the attached files are the result. The biggest issue I had was the top glass did not fit in the riser. I discovered that the radius of the back corners is larger than the glass corners, so it prevented the glass from seating against the back wall. I added some relief back there with a smaller radius corner to let the glass slide back a little further. In my final print I also stretched the models by .25% to add 1mm to the overall length. I also like the idea of a front ledge, so I added that to the front dash parts and the gaskets. The plugs on the gaskets had no really retention into the body parts, so I added a little more bump on the plugs so they snap in. The buttons up front are free to rotate, so I added keys on the buttons and the X1C frame to keep them oriented properly. Not a fan of coming off the build plate in a full radius, so I modified the back-side of the riser so the build comes off the plate a 45 degrees. Cleans up the first few layers on the butt. I noticed the build plates in the storage slot would walk out of the riser with the machine shaking. I added a little slide latch on one side to keep the build plates in place. I used glass filled ABS on my build. The spring element on the latch might need to be tweaked to get a nice snap/lock in other materials. I printed some latches in PLA and they work great. Regardless of the material you use, coat the center leg of the latch slide with super-glue - top and bottom. Dab off the excess with a paper towel. Let it cure for a good while before installing it. That will add a lot of strength across the layer lines of the spring so it doesn't break. You may also need to spread the slot a little when sliding that latch into position. I know PETG is a popular material for these risers. If you use PETG for Part2, I suggest NOT using PETG for the slide. PETG does not slide well plastic on plastic. PLA will work better. I ended up with the 8mm strip lights rather than the 5mm Ben suggests. Not sure how I screwed that up, but I reworked the slots to fit the 8mm lights. My strip is also cut at 50mm intervals, so I stretched the slots out further to the front to better match the 50mm increment. Happy to provide hybrid models if anyone wants them - like if you want the features for my build plate slide with the original lighting slots.
