I know that at this point I usually tell you a fun little origin story about how my son helped me come up with the design. I hate to disappoint - but this one is actually for my wife.
One of our favorite places on earth is Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. Something about the near alien landscape and plant life is just so alluring. the simple barrel cactus is particularly suited for

Amazing file. This cage is higher quality than some of the cheaper commercial cages out there. Props to the designer. If you are looking to up your reel game - this should be your first stop. Have a couple of boosts.

If you can't tell, I am trying to narrow in on a decision as to WHAT my models will do. Eventually you will have too many skulls on your shelf that just sit there looking back to you - what then? The core models that DON"T do anything will always be here (don't worry) - but I can see also making versions such as keychains, planters, pen holders, tea light holders, secret stash compartments, and of course articulated jaws.

After my post yesterday I got a few DMs asking about my photo set up.
Other than the backdrop boards (which were about $75), everything that I use is MEGA cheap.
The key light is a "wannabe influencer" ring light that they sell at Walmart for $20. The colored LED lights are around $30 each from a company called small rig - but you can find them even cheaper.
The photo itself was taken with my iPhone 15 in portrait mode.
No. In not selling anything. I am just trying to provide value to a community that has provided so much help to me.

Here is a real conversation from a few nights ago with my design partner (my four year old son)
“Daddy, can you 3d print me a night light to keep away the monsters?”
Yeah, Buddy. I would be happy to. What should the lamp look like?
“It should look like FIRE. Did you know that monsters are afraid of fire???”
Sure thing, buddy. Lets do it!
I have been wanting to try my hand at creating light fixtures for a while. After all, the Prisma Petal lamp from Modular Mapping is one of the things that convinced my wife to let me buy these printers in the first place, but I am not much of a hard surface modeler so I haven't really been able to produce something that I liked just yet. When my son asked for a nightlight the other night, it just clicked on me that I could take inspiration from the same organic design shapes that I use in my skulls, print them in translucent PETG with minimal infill, and stick an LED001 kit in the bottom and it might just work.And it did work.
So much better than I thought that it would.
Here is the big question - If you have been following me (and I assume that you have if you are seeing this post) - do you think that these organic lamps are a good fit of the "Boys Day" brand? Or do you feel that it is too big a departure from the skulls that I normally post?

Here is #18 of the father and son “fossil hunting” series (See the rest HERE) —and this one’s a little different.
We’re taking a break from dinosaurs to bring you something straight out of ancient legend: the Direwolf.
This skull is inspired by prehistoric wolves with a bit of fantasy flair. It’s fierce, powerful, and packed with enough detail to feel like it was just dug up from an icy tundra—or maybe the walls of Winterfell.

Part three of the boys day fossil hunt 3d. With eastern coming up, I decided to skirt the edge of fun and trauma with my son and hide an “Easter Bunny Fossil" in the woods for him to find. He loved it… but we will see if he tells his friends at school that the eastern bunny is dead :/
