Told myself I should not design a vase. There is so many of them, there are even generators. So I made a pencil holder instead :D Encountered this shape while working on next version of fidget bolt and just couldn't let be, so here it is: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1026474

I'm finally almost finished with improved version for my fidget bolt toy. Things that has improved:
- nut is now fully constrained on the bolt, there are larger caps now
- special stoppers added to the thread, so the nut is never getting stuck (and the sound is better)
Not sure if I should just release it, or print 5-10 more copies to see if it works as expected

I think I'm going to make a new fidget bolt design. Was experimenting with just changing the texture for the nut, and got a couple ideas. Nothing concrete yet, I know now that it is going to work, I just have to make up my mind on how it should look. I

#2024 Annual Summary 2024 was certainly a year of breaking designing records for me. I learned how to use CAD (I use onshape) properly, just because a friend of mine asked me if I could recreate a paper Christmas tree design they seen in the shop. I said I'll try but no promises. Because I've never made anything decorative, and I lacked skills to model something like that. But somehow through trial and error, I made a model, it looked very different on the screen from design it was supposed to mimic. And I didn't like it. So I kept working on it, iterating, looking for perfect curves and shapes, and I was truly enjoying the process, because never before I was working so hard just to make something that looked good to me. In the end, the final result was my Christmas Tree V1 design (https://makerworld.com/en/models/856773) which I gifted to my friend in the biggest size I could print. I was very proud of myself when I made it.
The pencil holder is still standing on my table, it is not very useful, but I keep it just to remember the feeling I had when it came out of printer bed. I've never released it, since design is very simple, and there are many designs like this, but here is the picture, if anyone is interested :D

This is actually the first Christmas tree I've ever designed, but i disliked it for a while, then made another, better version , and almost forgot about the first attempt. But a couple people preferred this original design, so I decided to release it publicly as well
