Making a 1:87 scale car was fun. More of these will be on the works

I wanted to understand gears a little better. So I came up with a little modular system: a board with a grid of holes and 5 gears that can mesh with eachother in any configuration. Gears can stack and compound too! There were some challenges. The gears, grid spacing, module, pitch and tooth count all had to work with a 7.5mm grid. The gear ratios are not elegant like 2:1 or 4:1, instead they are 9:7, 5:3, which are not as nice. I made it for myself really, but I wanted to share a picture :) Anyway, gears are fun.

I needed to find the sweet spot for horizontal holes for M3 screws. Just to get a feel for it. This thing goes up by 0.05mm in diameter. I liked 2.8mm diameter circular holes for horizontal and vertical. You get a very strong connection. Tested on A1 with Bambu Matte Black at 0.2mm layer height. More testing needed.

WIP of a modular desk shelf system. It's meant to use the least amount of filament possible. This whole thing is less than 600g. But I did run out of M3 screws. So far it's got shelf surfaces, drawers, and hanging pins. What else should I add?

Cat on Roomba, yes. Like my previews Music Box, you twist the caps to wind it and it feels nice.

Using the same flexible mesh as my past designs, I made a pen holder. It's a little squishy.

Who knew PLA can bend like paper when you put the right pattern on it? I made a box with something I always wanted to try: a rolling shutter. My mom likes it.

I made a little card to help me design wall and floor thickness. The difference between 1, 2 and 3 walls is crazy. Should I upload the model?

I'm looking for data or analysis about 3D printed springs. I'm having trouble designing springs. Do you have any links to share?

Meaning to do this for a while. I finally get to design something scifi-ish. I think I'll lean in that futuristic direction from now on.
