This design was inspired by my girlfriend’s younger sister, who learned finger weaving from an Indigenous Arts educator at school. She’d been using a cardboard cutout that wore down fast, so she asked me to make something better. Using her template as a guide, I began 3D modelling a stronger, reusable version. After a few revisions and tweaks, this is the final design. This one is made to last, honouring the craft she’s learning and allowing others to also learn this traditional art.
