This is the solution I arrived at after testing. There is room for improvement but it does work as is. I toyed with many ideas with extra hardware/screws or twisting to lock in. But this design actually seems fairly strong and only 3d printed. Con right now is the slot connector is same sized so it can be pushed through/lost and I don't know if others boxes metal gauge are the same.
