When I was younger, someone handed me a wooden cube puzzle and swore it was solvable. I spent hours trying every combination. Later, they laughed and showed me they had secretly broken one piece and glued it back slightly wrong so it could never fit. I remember feeling frustrated! That memory stuck with me, and years later I decided to recreate that same clever trick. Made this for those people that make you feel dumb. Gl folks!

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!

I was climbing outdoors on a limestone crag near the sea. Between burns I was sitting on a rock, harness still on, phone half out of my pocket. Every time I stood up to brush holds or move pads, I had to check it hadn’t slipped. At one point it actually fell into the dirt. Nothing dramatic, just annoying. I remember thinking: I trust my gear with my life, but not my pocket with my phone. That’s where the idea started.

I made this because I was tired of loose AA batteries rolling around in my backpack during camping trips. Every time my headlamp or torch died, I had to dig through everything to find spares, usually in the dark. They would rattle while I walked and sometimes disappear under my gear. I just wanted something simple to keep four batteries together, quiet, and easy to grab. So I designed this to solve that small but constant frustration.
