Folks have been asking me to create a stage for the SDCC Cold Slither set of Dreadnoks and I've finally managed it. This is the first of two that I have planned. This first stage is based on the music video scene in the original cartoon; the second will be something much more modern, but still fit in with the GI Joe Classified line.

#2024 Annual Summary
I've wanted to get into 3D printing since I first heard on it in college, over 20 years ago. I watched the growing industry off and on over the years, but was always too intimidated by the steep learning curve. Over the previous year I had noticed the new Bambu printers and was intrigued, but still hesitant.
When I very unexpectedly lost my job of 17 years last January, I needed something to do (other than writing resumes and filling out endless applications) during my long job search. So I started with learning 3D modeling. Some very helpful YouTube tutorials got me quickly on my way in Onshape. Not long after that, I finally decided to dive right into a new hobby and get my first 3D printer.
After reading and watching MANY reviews I decided the best printer for me was a Bambu P1S, and I 100% made the right choice. I don't need to spout a glowing testimonial here to this group, but I simply can't imaging having a better experience for someone completely new to 3D printing. My first model was, of course, the benchy that came preloaded. It was amazing to watch a new object come into existence layer by lightning fast layer! The only feeling to top that was the first time seeing a model that I created come to reality. I don't have it posted here because it's way to obscure of an item for almost anyone else to be interested in, but I still have it on my desk and even though it's ridiculously simple compared to what I have made since, it will always be one of my favorites.
I also can't miss including my experience with the Reward Program. Getting feedback, reward points, and boosts for my models has been so exciting. I check my page almost every day and those rewards helped me get my first of two AMS units.
Oh, man, AMS! What a game-changer. As soon as I printed the first multi-color model I know I needed another AMS unit ASAP so I got one on order the very next week! I've printed so many awesome Christmas decoration for family and friends, and just this week printed a model I've had my eye on for over 8 years. (Something I'd seen online while in a 3D printing Cafe I visited for a bachelor party). It's been totally cool to finally see that model sit on my desk. Would not have happened without AMS.
I've only entered a few models in contests, but seeing a model I created get some relatively strong interest for the first time was another exciting adventure for me. Entering contests was some of the most fun I've had this year and look forward to entering many more this year.
2024 was personally a very hard year for me and my family for way more reasons that losing my job, and not anything anyone needs me to go into detail on here, but I will say that my new 3D printing hobby has been one of the very few right spots of 2024, and I'm very excited to grow in this hobby and on this site in 2025.
All the best to everyone for 2025!
