Bio
IT enthusiast since I owned an Amstrad when I was 11, I'm 3d printing as a hobby. Learning to remix and design my own pieces with OpenSCAD.
I love my Bambu, this great community, and my wonderful family (you can safely bet this list is not ordered !)
#2024 Annual Summary
2024, year of the 3d printing ! I've been interested in 3d printing since a long time, but with a full time job and a family life it's not always easy to enter a new hobby. Well, that was until may 2024, when I was in need of an object that existed only as a print-it-yourself design at this time. My first move was to go to a local association that offers 3d printing service, but I ended buying my first printer in order to really do things myself.
And then I got hooked. Hours of browsing design sites to get cool things to print. Dozen of tries, play with settings, see the result. You may find me crazy, but one month later, I sold my first printer in order to buy a Bambu with AMS and get more possibilities (multi-color, better filament support, etc.).
After some time of printing tons of models with PLA, I went to try things with TPU, and started using PETG. I bought some ABS filament for my next tries.
Also I quickly wanted to be able to design my own things, so I tried different tools : Tinkercad, Blender... and found the best one for me : OpenSCAD (yes, I used to be a coder). I first learned the basics, then started to remix other people work. Now I'm doing small things 100% by myself, small projects at first, but also more complex things (like a PI5 case I'm working on, totally from scratch).
So 2024 has been for me the "discover 3d printing world" year. I hope 2025 will bring me time to become more skilled !
