Bio
I was an early adopter back in 2011 with a janky home-brew 3D printer just trying to get it to work. Stepped away from the hobby in 2012. I just bought a Bambu Lab A1 in AUG of 2025 and MAN, THINGS HAVE CHANGED! I'm going to dive back in on the hobby of the 3D printer itself again but for now I'm just enjoying actually being able to print some great models. Its good to be back.

What a fantastic model! I printed it with a .6 nozzle in Bambu Lab PLA Matte bone white and painted it. I used a .15/ .15 fuzzy skin setting to give it some texture and hid most layer lines made by printing with a larger nozzle. Black wash, green base coat and highlights and lowlights. Nothing crazy, I just wore it with a hoodie to walk the kids around trick or treating tonight. It was a hit, everyone loved it.

let me set the stage. it was 2011, I was stationed overseas at RAF Lakenheath. I was a young and broke serviceman when I heard about 3D printers. I bought a janky kit Prusa reprap style printer kit on eBay consisting of poorly printed parts and a list of hardware to buy. life was good. I had a new hobby, building and working on a 3D printer. The Prusa i3 came out a year later and I bought that kit as well. In just 7 short hours I could have printed out a benchy just like this and would have thought “Man! that’s not bad for a fifth try” I deployed and my printers stayed in the boxes they were packed up in then and still are today.
Fast forward to last month, Aug2025. My now teenage son said “dad, what do you know about 3D printers”. I told him to sit down a shared the early days with him. I bought a Bambu Lab A1 the next day. Boy these have come a long way. Thank you for this model so my son could live the horror I did. Boosted! I watched and laughed the whole time it was printing.
