It may be the material I used to print, but the item worked great at first, but when I moved them to a new spool, they keep wanting to fall out. I printed with basic PLA. Anyhow, they did work, just lost their "spring" after the first spool.

Cool looking fire hydrant! A recommendation (just my experience) to make it more user-friendly & less prone to accidental damage, is to enlarge & strengthen the ring/loop. Currently, if the leash is dropped the wrong way, or you get pulled by an excited pup and the leash yanks against it in your hand, it'll likely break.
I found myself having two issues with the ring itself:
a. The hole was too small for the small carabiners I have, they came standard with other bag holders I've (purchased) in the past & using an even smaller carabiner feels to be too weak to last.
b. In addition to making the hole bigger, the plastic of the loop & how much support it has in connecting to the body could benefit from being dramatically increased.
This model link is to give an example of one way to create the stronger loop I am referring to: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1213125-heavy-duty-dog-poop-bag-holder-with-used-bag-clip#profileId-1228411
Boosting this for sure!
Thank you!
