Last weekend, I got a box that was honestly bigger than me. It’s our family’s third 3D printer. To me, a 3D printer isn’t a cold, serious machine. It feels like a little magic box. You put an idea inside, wait for a while, and then you can hold something real in your hands. My dad and I learn 3D modeling together, and we also do DIY projects. We’ve made lots of small but truly useful things, like desk organizers, tiny tools, and little gifts for people we care about. Whenever I see them sitting there, I feel quietly proud, because those are the results of our time and patience. But I also slowly learned something. Between “I want to make it” and “it’s actually finished,” there’s a whole part that people don’t always see. You can have a good idea and still get stuck, not because you don’t care enough, but because real life is real life. Sometimes one “small” problem takes many tries. That means more time, more filament, and more failed prints than you expected. Sometimes your model is almost right, but it still needs that last little adjustment. It can feel like you’re standing in front of a wall, and you’re not tall enough yet to see what’s on the other side. Then I came across Bambu Lab’s Let’s Make It Fund. After reading about it, I felt genuinely encouraged. What I understood is pretty simple. If you have something you truly want to build, but you’re short on materials, equipment, or you’re stuck on a technical part, they’re willing to help. Not just saying “good luck,” but offering real support so your idea has a better chance to become real. They’re looking for different kinds of projects, too. Some might be very hard and need advanced skills. Some are about challenging yourself and pushing your limits. And some are about helping people or animals, and making life a little better in a real way. The support can be big, too. Up to 300,000 USD for overseas projects, or up to 1,000,000 RMB for projects in China. I can’t fully picture how huge that is, but I do know it could help people worry less and try more bravely. Reading this reminded me of what I said that day while holding the giant box. “I want to try.” I think a lot of makers have that sentence somewhere in their heart. Sometimes you get a bold idea, but you’re scared it won’t work, so you pretend you don’t care. Sometimes you make a smaller version of your dream, because you think that’s all you can afford. But if there’s a chance that helps you take a few more steps, maybe you can pick that idea up again and try one more time, seriously.
