Rack4All — Storage Unit
Rack4All — Storage Unit
As the 4All ecosystem continues to grow, I’m excited to introduce a new addition: the Rack4All — Storage Unit. While most of my recent work has focused on 3D printing accessories, this new module is designed to be much more versatile. Although the examples I’ll share here are related to 3D printing, the unit itself is not limited to that world — it’s a genuinely modular storage solution for any workspace. The Rack4All — Spools and Tags + Build-Plates + Storage SystemsTwo Configurations, Endless PossibilitiesAt launch, the storage unit comes in two configurations: a single and a double unit. Both can be arranged vertically or horizontally, just like the filament racks, and are fully compatible with the rest of the Rack4All modules. As with every module in the system, you can use the storage unit on its own or combine it with others to create a setup that fits your needs.Inside, you’ll find removable shelves that function much like drawers. Each drawer features a front tab that serves a dual purpose: it acts as a handle and provides a dedicated space for labels. This means you can identify what’s inside without having to pull the drawer out — something I’ve found useful when searching for the right part or accessory. The drawers are print-in-place, making assembly straightforward. The signature tilt present in all Rack4All modules ensures that stored items naturally settle in an organized way, making the most of the available space.Designed for Real-World NeedsThe initial motivation for this storage unit came from my own experience with the Bambu Lab H2D Combo laser, that has a LOT of items. I needed a way to store spare parts and accessories that were still in their original packaging — Over time, I’ve learned that it’s often best to keep certain items in their protective boxes until they’re actually needed. That’s why this module is fully enclosed — a conscious decision that might not appeal to fans of barebone, open designs, but one that makes sense for protecting valuable components. The Rack4All — Storage can be stacked vertically and horizontally, giving you great flexibility and the shelfs / Drawers optimizes your spaceOf course, I know that not everything stays in its original box forever. For items that are already in use and no longer have their packaging. This way, you’ll be able to mix and match shelf types within a single unit — storing both new (boxed) and used (unboxed) items side by side.To address this, I’ve developed a range of shelf and drawer combinations. For those who use the Gridfinity system — a popular choice in the community — there are now fully Gridfinity-compatible shelves, as well as hybrid options that combine Gridfinity slots with space for closed cardboard boxes. This means you can mix and match, storing boxed components alongside open, modular storage for smaller parts.Shelfs for cardboard boxes and with various degrees of Gridfinity sockets. It’s worth noting that while Gridfinity is very versatile, its standard grid doesn’t always make the most efficient use of the available space in the Rack4All modules. That’s why I’m planning to introduce a new grid system in the future, with different dimensions, to maximize every millimeter of storage.
