🌪️ The AERO - Glide Ring / Parametric Throwing Ring

Welcome to the PARAMETRIC AERO GLIDE! An aerodynamically optimized flying ring that you can either download directly as a perfectly tuned print profile or completely customize to your own liking in the web customizer. Perfect for the park, the beach, or as a brilliant, personalized gift.

🚀 The Three Flight & Material Profiles

Each of the uploaded files (PLA, PETG, TPU) brings its very own aerodynamic properties. Choose the profile that best suits your needs:

  • PLA – Long Distance: Optimized for minimal air resistance to achieve absolute record distances.
  • PETG – Wind Stable (Compact): Due to its slightly higher density, it's ideal for windier days at the coast or in open fields.
  • TPU (90A) – Family & Fun (Balanced): Soft, safe to catch, and virtually indestructible. The perfect all-rounder for the park and families.

🖨️ Plug & Play: The Prepared Print Plates

Each material profile contains four prepared print plates (.3mf) for all common printer sizes. Simply select and print:

  • Print Profile 1 (220 mm): Standard for Bambu Lab A1, P1, and X1 series.
  • Print Profile 2 (144 mm): Perfectly fitted for small print beds like the Bambu Lab A1 Mini.
  • Print Profile 3 (250 mm): Specifically scaled for larger print beds (H-series).
  • Print Profile 4 (270 mm): Maximum size for 320 mm printers (A2L).

💡 Good to know: The respective diameters are deliberately chosen so that the ring does not interfere with the flow calibration lines at the front edge of the print bed!

✨ Highlights & Customizer Features

  • Auto-Scaling Magic: Simply select your printer in the Customizer! The code automatically scales the ring to the maximum safe size and adjusts all aerodynamic proportions perfectly.
  • Golf Ball Dimple Technology: Tiny dimples on the surface massively reduce air drag and ensure a stable flight path.
  • Fully Customizable Text: Add your desired name in the web customizer! Choose between a classic Engraved (1-Color) look or a perfectly smooth Flush Inlay (2-Color AMS). The text is placed on the bottom for a perfect first layer.
  • 100% Slicer-Safe: Text depth is intelligently limited to max. 1.0 mm, keeping the ring's overall structure solid and strong.
  • Advanced Manual Mode: Turn off the auto-scaling to take full manual control over the diameter, ring width, and all aerodynamic wing profiles!
  • No Support Structures: 100% "Print-in-Place" – no supports required.

🟡 The Yellow Cylinder (PLA / Long Distance)

If you see a large, semi-transparent yellow cylinder in the center of the model on the Long Distance plate: Don't worry! This is an invisible slicer modifier ensuring peak flight characteristics by keeping the center lightweight (15% infill) and the rim heavy and solid. Just hit "Print" – the profile handles the rest automatically.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you use the Web Customizer!

Generating your own custom ring is awesome! Since the customizer creates a raw model, please note these crucial steps in your slicer:

  • Apply Recommended Settings:
    • Top Surface Pattern: "Monotonic" cleans up the surface. 
    • Wall Loops & Infill: Use 3-4 wall loops with 15-20% Gyroid infill for stability.
  • TPU & AMS Warning: Flexible materials like TPU cannot be printed reliably with the AMS. If you plan to print in TPU, please leave the Multicolor (AMS) setting on "No" and use the 1-Color "Engraved" text style!
  • Center the Model: If not centered, right-click -> "Center" (or press 'A'). Please do not use "Auto Arrange".
  • Prime Tower (AMS): If the prime tower is outside the bed, simply drag & drop it into one of the four corners.

  • Safety Notice: Depending on the material used (especially PLA or PETG), this ring can be quite hard and may cause injury if thrown carelessly or at high speeds. Always ensure a clear landing zone, maintain a safe distance from other people and animals, and never throw the ring towards anyone.
  • Liability: By downloading and printing this model, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the safe use of the product. The designer assumes no liability for any injuries or damages resulting from the use of this printed object.
  • Age Recommendation: Ensure children are supervised at all times when using this item, regardless of the material used.
