2025 Recap - Thanks for your support!
2025 Recap - Thanks for your support!
About a year ago, I uploaded my first lamp design here. At that point, it was honestly just an experiment - a mix of curiosity, late nights, and seeing how far I could push a couple of design ideas. Then something unexpected happened: the Florahedron lamp went viral. Not in a planned way, for me this came out of the nowhere. And that moment changed a lot for me.Instead of stopping there, I kept going. I started exploring new forms, new structures, new ways of assembling lamps without screws or glue. I experimented with push fit mechanisms, clip-on designs and with a lot of materials. One design turned into the next, and over time that turned into about 60 different designs. Each design teaching me something new about geometry, printing limits, and what actually works in the real world (not just on screen). I cant tell how many iterations some designs had and how many fails i printed. Some of my lamp designs in no specific order. Some ideas failed. But every failure is a new learning. In the end i released about 80 % of my designs, some are still in my drawer. After a year i reached over 8k followers here and over 50k downloads! Some user makes of my lamps, i love to see all your pictures! At some point, I realized I dont want to design the next lamp from the start again. I wanted to design a Lamp Ecosystem. That’s how Moduluma started:A modular lamp ecosystem where vases, shades, inlays, and decorative elements all work together. Tool-free, press-fit, endlessly combinable. One idea that could grow instead of being “finished.”Bambulab contacted me just at the perfect moment. Turning that into a crowdfunding campaign was honestly scary. I had this concept and idea in mind but to realize such idea is a completely different thing! I totally underestimated how much work this would be and made things more complex than i would had to. One week before the campaign ended i still had about 50 models i needed to finish. And all that while also still working at my main job. And somehow… it worked. In just one week i opened a exhibition for the german designer „Wolgang Joop“ where we designed the media choreography with my Audio-Visual Art Studio „Xenorama“ and also managed to release all Moduluma files! My exhibit at the JOOP exhibition The Moduluma campaign ended up being funded with around $18,000, which still feels a bit unreal to say out loud. But the most important part wasn’t the number. It am now seeing people build their own versions, remix parts, ask thoughtful questions, and push the system further than I ever planned alone. This is what keeps me going!A picture of a user make with frosted 3D ice leaf windows None of this would have happened without this community. Every download, comment, remix, message, and bit of feedback pushed me forward more than you probably realize. Moduluma isn’t the end. It’s just the current chapter. And I’m genuinely excited to see where it goes next, together with all of you. Thanks for being part of the journey! And now its your time to start your first big project! Bambulab just launched “Lets Make It Fund!” This campaign is here to get you started with your extraordinary idea. You can submit your idea and describe what and how you want to achieve it. If you are selected you can get up to 300000 Dollars in funding and material! I will for sure try to be part of this campaign as well, lets see where this will bring us! You can find more information here! Big thanks to Bambulab for the ongoing support over the last year! If you wouldnt be such an amazing partner i wouldnt be where i am now!   Have a great end of year and a even greater start into the new one,Mateo - Modular Mapping

My Thoughts on the New Campaign Feature
My Thoughts on the New Campaign Feature
My Thoughts on the New Campaign Feature on MakerWorldI really appreciate how the new campaign tool on MakerWorld has been built - it’s incredibly well-programmed, and the communication with the MakerWorld team throughout the process has been excellent. They’ve been supportive and responsive every step of the way, and I felt truly encouraged while preparing my campaign. The idea of a curated campaign feature is something I personally value a lot. By having the MakerWorld team select and support campaigns, it ensures a certain level of quality and care in the models being offered. At the same time, it gives creators like me the opportunity to invest more time, energy, and resources into complex, high-quality designs that would not be feasible to develop without the support of a fundraiser.I’ve seen some critical takes on this new feature, so I’d like to respond to a few common points: Thesis: Fundraisers should only be for physical products that still require upfront investment. Answer: In my case, I’m investing both time and materials. Time is a limited resource for me due to my main job, and developing this project takes hundreds of hours of modeling, testing, refining, and documentation. In addition, running three printers nonstop for weeks means a significant cost in filament and electricity. The system I’m designing isn’t finished yet, and I expect to spend another 100 hours completing models, polishing them and writing good instructions. Thesis: Fundraisers are just a marketing trick. Answer: Personally, I’m really thankful for the visibility this campaign gives me on MakerWorld. On platforms like Instagram or TikTok, reaching people has become increasingly difficult unless you pay for promotion. Here, it feels like reach is based on substance again - on ideas and designs worth supporting. Thesis: 3D models should always be free - open source is the foundation of the 3D printing community. Answer: I fully support the open source idea. In fact, all my other models are available for free and not locked behind paywalls, unlike many on other platforms. But just like in voluntary work, if the  the people who put serious effort into their work are not supported financially, it becomes harder and harder to justify the time investment. We all live in a world where we need income to sustain ourselves. MakerWorld’s campaign tool makes it possible for me - and for many other designers - to create something ambitious, detailed, and well-crafted. This is one of the reasons why, in my opinion, MakerWorld already stands out as the platform with the highest-quality 3D models. I’m excited to see where this feature goes and grateful to be part of it. Now you can read about my project in detail if you want to ;) Moduluma – A Modular Lighting SystemModuluma is a versatile, nature inspired lighting ecosystem built around a collection of interchangeable components. In total there are 560 different combinations that are possible within this ecosystem! The system includes (not all versions in the pictures yet): 6 sculptural vases, two of which feature interchangeable inlays for added variation5 distinct inlay styles: 4 3D-printable versions and 1 suitable for laser cutting4 fixture options that support E14, E26, E27 bulbs and the Bambu Lab LED kit (not visualized) 4 unique lampshades, two of which are modular and can be combined with various leaf elements4 nature-inspired leaf designs for different organic aestheticsDesigned to grow, the ecosystem will be expanded with retrofit versions of previous lamp models, allowing existing designs - like the Florahedron - to integrate seamlessly with the modular structure.Moduluma is not just a collection of lamps - it’s a creative system that invites personalization, experimentation, and a fresh approach to decorative lighting. Stretch Goals:1000$: A extra set of inlays plus one new vase!1500$: Two extra types of leafs!2000$: A extra lampshade compatible with all leafs and vases!(The Stretch Goals will be released to every backer!)What needs to be done:The project is already well underway: multiple designs are tested, and all components are printable on all Bambu Lab printers. As there are so many different variations (for example 4 different versions of fixture for each vase) I still need to finish at least 20 parts. I also need some more time to perfect the tolerances for ideal fit every time. With your support, I’ll complete the full ecosystem, adapt older lamp models as compatible addons, and provide detailed guides on how to print and build them!

Im in the progress of designing a lamp ecosystem that can be personalized a lot. It will have 3 main parts that are interchangeable: The Vase will have different vase versions, some of them will have different versions of inlays. The part that holds the light fixture will be interchangeable for all kinds of light fixtures from different bulb types to Bambu Labs LED kit and DIY LED Light bulbs with adressable LEDs. The Shade will have some different versions, some are printed in one part, others can be assembled from easier printable parts. The assemblet lamp shades will also have different shapes and exchangeable leafs! Have a look at the first versions that i allready finished! I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas and what you would like to be part of this ecosystem: Which light fixtures do you want to use? What kind of leafs you like most? Which styles you like most? Do you prefer prints in one part or assembled prints? The ecosystem will be released at some point in june, stay tuned! #Questions(Edited)

Recently i found myself to be the lucky winner of an OutIn complete setup at a prize competition at Instagram! Knowing that i would use the set a lot at home i designed this station to have a permanent place at my kitchen for it. Im also planning to upgrade the print with some fitting coasters in the same style. I really like the look of those brighter colored inlays im working a lot with at the moment. What do you think about this model? #Newmodel
