Description

The Nozzle Wiper V3.1

I have designed this new nozzle wiper for my 4 X1C. The original wiper isn't effective and when I got my A1 I saw how great the A1 wiper was so I decided to adapt an A1 wiper to my X1C.

This is the third version, fixing each problem version by version. This solution cost me less than $1 and now my nozzle is always clean, which reduces defects on my prints.

I have tested this wiper for over 80 hours of printing without any problems, I printed mine with Bambulab PC as I use a lot of high end filament that requires an active heat chamber.

The A1 wiper is available in the official Bambulab store at an affordable price.

⚠️ Use a material that can handle the heat, like at least PETG.

⚠️ Use my print profile marked as designer to make sure you are using the latest version of this model.

INSTALLATION:

  1. Remove the screw holding the original wiper - Using the larger allen key.
  2. Cut an A1 silicone wiper, counting to get 4 rows, and install it on top of the new wiper, I recommend removing the double sided tape and using CA glue.
  3. Remove one or both of the purge chute screws located at the top of it - Using the smaller allen key.
  4. Insert the part, the back first and press the front to fit into the purge chute and screw the 2 screws back into place.

UPDATES:

3.1: 2024-04-26 Latest 🎉

  • Added more clearance (0.5mm) to the build plate due to a problem with the non-Bambulab plate touching the wipers.

3.0:  2024-04-20

  • With the previous version, people had problems with mounting due to differences between printers and filament calibration. The print is now fixed with one or two screws from the purge chute. This makes it more stable on the purge chute.
  • I changed some of the structural parts of this new version to make it stiffer and less prone to deformation when the chamber heats up.
  • This new release fixes a purge issue after the first layer inspection (X1C) where the toolhead would purge on top of the wiper.
  • I had a problem with the screw holding the original wiper, the screw didn't provide enough support, so I decided to design a new way of holding the wiper.

BENEFITS:

  • No Brims
  • Designed for FDM Printing
  • Smooth Operation
  • Clean nozzle
  • Tight Fit
  • Hold by screw
  • No additional part needed

The edge of the wiper plastic ended up running into the tab on my wham bam build plate. Looking at the other posts, it seems like the margins are fine with the bambu plate but I haven't tried. Any reason I couldn't move the arm thing over a millimeter or two or is the positioning super intentional? I cut off the side to get the clearance, but I am not super confident the wiper won't come loose, I could glue it, but the clearance still isn't great like this.

I ran into the same problem with the BBL engineering plate. Had to shave a corner of the wiper, now it’s working

Mine ended up completely failing, and the wipe no longer stuck. I modified the model so the "pad" is offset toward the other side, and it doesn't stick outside of the plastic bucket. Works like a charm, and no clearance issues or anything of the sort. Hopefully 3.1 fixes it for others though!

Yes, v3.1 has more clearance with the build plate. Just be aware that in your version the wiper may be too much to the left and the tool head will purge on top of it during layer inspection on X1C, if you're using a P-series printer it's ok. (had this issue with V2)

So it printed great but the part of the flex plate that goes out slightly hits on the corner sometimes during the z homing, has this happened to anyone else?

I've created my own version from scratch that clears the build plate and also acts as a poop retainer after seeing another comment about purge onto the A1 wiper part for V2 of this model https://makerworld.com/en/models/438841 (image attached) perhaps it will work better for you.

The corner of the wiper is interfering with the plate. I tried repositioning the plate but it didn’t fix it. I had to shave the corner of the wiper to make space for the plate, but now it’s working.

V3.1: 0.15mm - PLA as interface support
Print was perfect however the end of the poop would get caught in the silicon and since it's attached to the rest of the poop, it just got stuck there. This photo shows it after I pulled at it, but usually the whole poop just gets stuck there, connected to silicon. Am I doing something wrong?
