Description

Hi Makers!  I'm a mechanical engineer & open source developer.  You'll find all my designs are inter-operable and have documentation at OpenLab Project.

Find my content on Youtube to learn about:

  • design for 3D printing
  • open source hardware
  • multidisciplinary engineering

A demonstration model for compliant design, featuring "sigma compliance" where the motor mount performs gripping to hold the motor without fasteners. This design is printable with ABS plastic, default printer settings, etc.

Notes:

►NEMA17 motors have various body lengths. Explore this design to see the relationship between motor dimensions and the grip dimensions

► This assembly is featured in my other content, openlab project, youtube, etc.

► Takeaways: add a weak deflection pushing arms together on the part. Add a strong deflection forward on the arms to pull the part against the back panel. (see 3D model for context).
