Description

This is a storage box that is 8cm by 8.5cm and is 6cm deep.  For those that like inches that's 3 1/8th by 3 ¼ by 2 3/8 inches. There are a million other storage boxes on the site so why did I build this?

  • Most storage boxes are either small of flimsy.  I wanted something that could hold screws, bolts and nails
  • Stackable boxes aren't actually that convenient to use.  If you have a large stack of boxes then getting the bottom box can be a hassle
  • I wanted something that could be stacked on the vertical supports of my 3d printing shelf

These boxes have a couple of big differences:

  • they're big enough to hold a good amount of stuff.  I can easily put a box of 200 70mm by 5mm screws in one box
  • they're sturdy enough to hold the weight when fully filled with metal (bolts, screws, nuts, etc)
  • I can have a big vertical stack of them and I can just slide of the box I want from anywhere in the stack without risking knocking down the stack and spilling their contents
  • They're not going to get deformed by holding a heavy weight.  Some of the smaller boxes I've printed lose their shape (and then cannot be stacked).
  • You can mount between 1 and 5 boxes in one go using a mounting plate.  If you want to mount lots of boxes, print multiple mounting plates.  it makes having a nice, neat line of boxes easy.

I've printed about 20 of these boxes so far and am probably going to print another 15 or so to hold a mix of stuff.

I've printed everything here on a mix of P1S, X1C and H2D.  Each print these without any issue.
