I have always wondered if something that I had seen in simulations and animations could be made as a physical model that students could interact with and investigate

I'm a physics teacher starting the topic of waves and simple harmonic motion and I wanted my students to experience the concept of resonance in a hands-on way. I had remembered a demonstration apparatus that I had seen before and I decided to replicate the idea at a small scale so that all students would be able to explore by finding the natural frequency of oscillators at different lengths.
