Bambu Lab A2L! My reaction
Bambu Lab has released the A2L printer (& plotter, but the plotter's an opt-in), here's my thoughts and what's right & what's wrong in my predictions. Note that I just react and DID NOT own such printer. I have A1 mini (and AMS 2 Pro) when it comes to Bambu Lab printers. The motion system + buildThe motion system is a bed-flinger / bed-slinger Cartesian, which is famous for being more budget-friendly. It is A series' preferred motion system. I thought Bambu was going to completely ditch such system based of the first stance of X1 prologue, but the bed-slinger industry survived thanks to post-CoreXY revolution effects, which means applying what CoreXY revolution did to the bed-flinger, and that means I was wrong. The build volume is the same as H2C so owners of both H2C & A2L will be able to swap the plates. However it (being A2L) is incompatible with plates for H2D or H2S. I've checked their specs. The unit has a weights that are placed on the top of the frame. I have seen some people loading these, most primarily, weights loaded with sand, to their printers, in hopes to reduce ringing. However, the A2L uses the tiny balls or particles to dampen the unseen / unexpected vibrations. The heat bedThe maximum temperature of what the bed can heat up is, however, is the same as A1 mini, I wonder if they are finally using bed heaters that are meant for 3D printers and heats uniformly, like Voron and Bambu A1 mini (???) It is! Judging by CNC Kitchen's video. The toolhead - the fun part, more fun if Bambu lets me upgrade my extruderThe extruder is well, now come with PMSM. However it would be a banger if Bambu let A1 owners, including me, have PMSM extruder upgrade, with the new toolhead board and the mounting. Anyway, one of my prediction is the pen plotting and cutting support, judging from the announcement's markers, did, albeit using these from H2 series. The A2L does not support laser engraving because it is an exposed-frame machine. (you do not want an exposed-frame laser engravers do you?) Speaking of upgrade, as I've already said, if Bambu decide to sell an extruder hardware upgrade kit for A1 owners, that would be fun because it could rival what Prusa (3D printer) which is very good at, and me being a typical DIY enjoyer and extreme modder.Things you don't see it often, but Imma tell theseWatching CNC Kitchen's video and seeing the replacement Y motor, and so the replacement bed, the belt is very wide, as the bed is really heavy. The purge wiper has been redesigned, it now has a flap dedicated to nozzle clumping detection, and the detector is based of the hall sensor that detects the flap. This allows the printer to still detect small clumps. A2L comes with A1 hotend by-default. And thus the “A1 hotend” has renamed to A-series hotend. Weird that Bambu did not use H-series hotend, well I thought the A-series hotend be the prototype... but nope. A2L allows the use of 3 filaments on an AMS Lite and 4 sets of normal AMS, not either! Unfortunately, porting to A1 series is currently constrained by the fact of the microcontroller, per Made by Layers video, but we will see.Well that's about itI have a dedicated blog site where I usually react, announce and post there, but not this time, well maybe later. If you enjoy my content, including my made models, consider following me in any platforms here. Updates2026-06-02: Clarify that the hall sensor is to detect the flap's position, not mounted on the flap.

Sometimes I like to do things my own, this is one of them, where I want the hub holder to be foldable like a cap. #AMS Hub #Sharing Makes #Newmodel

I was not happy with the current desiccant cases' design, so I designed my own! Kicking with my own CAD skills, this case might be my best model (of this year). #Newmodel #Sharing Makes(Edited)
