Description

Boost Me (for free)

If you're enjoying this model, don't forget to give it a rating, like or even boost! Check out my profile for more- I mostly make a mix of toddler toys, DND dice towers and mechanical fixings.

D1
DND/ RPG/ Tabletop Dice

Details:

D1.
It's a D1.
It's a dice, but it only rolls a 1.

Why would you want this you ask?
I mean, why not?
Print it as a joke, keep it as a trinket, annoy other players by insisting on using it, print 10 and hide them in your friend's dice pouches- the possibilities are endless!*

It's actually a pretty nifty design, it's a freerolling cylinder with a hidden internal hollow tube, meaning it's weighted to always lands with the #1 facing up. It needs no extra hardware or additional weight, PLA and a dream.

Please note that the print settings for this are surprisingly complicated, please read my advice below (or just use my print profile if you can).

*Not actually usable in serious gameplay.

Print:

  • Important: if printing from my supplied STEP file, the internal hollow section will appear as its own part named “empty space”. You must split the model into parts, select the empty space part and change it's type to negative (see screenshots below).

  • Print using 4 walls in order to keep the weighted section weighty.
  • Print upright with a brim to aid adhesion
  • Printed at 0.12mm for nice detailing on the number, but it works up to 2.0mm layers.
  • It's worth moving the seam away from the ‘front’ (across the number) as it can affect the die, allowing it to balance number- down on it's seam. Either paint it on the side or set the seam to back.
