Large Update & Expansion - Multi Fidget Stim Tool
Large Update & Expansion - Multi Fidget Stim Tool

Multi Fidget Stim Tool System!

I uploaded the Multi Fidget Stim Tool a few months back, and I have to say the response has been amazing! Thank y'all so much for all the support. When I first made the Multi Fidget Stim Tool, I expected it to be a one-off print, but the amount it has grown since then—thanks to community feedback—is incredible. It has reached a point where I feel it needs some organization and cleaning up, so I’m excited to announce that I’ve updated and expanded the Multi Fidget Stim Tool into a fully modular system that allows users to make their own custom fidget tools!

For those who haven't seen my work before, the Multi Fidget Stim Tool is a design that brings several popular fidget mechanisms together into a "choose-your-own-adventure" style modular tool. It focuses on a center roller full of spikes with end caps that screw on and off to provide different sensory inputs. This system has evolved significantly and is now the Multi Fidget Stim Tool System, or MFST for short.

Summary of Changes:

  • New Collection: A central hub has been created to house all parts and prints.
  • Separated End Caps: Caps are now in their own prints to better reflect material usage and print time.
  • Renamed Intensity Levels: Textures have been renamed for better clarity.
  • Alignment Engravings: Symbols added to all parts for easier assembly.
  • New Parts: Added Stubby Rollers, a Joystick fidget end cap, and a "Techno" roller texture.
  • Improved Geometry: Updated for smoother spinning, better keyboard switch compatibility, and higher print success.

Clearer Assembly: How it Works

This system is made to grow. You can keep adding new ends and longer bodies to change the feel:

  • The A & B Sides: To ensure everything fits perfectly, the parts now have two different sides.
    • Side A parts have a Circle (○) on them.
    • Side B parts have a Square (□) on them.
  • Just match the shapes (Circle to Circle, Square to Square) to put it together.

Splitting the End Caps

As the system grew, I realized that having every end cap and roller in the same print file was a cluttered approach. I’ve decided to split the end caps into separate files so y'all can pick and choose exactly what you want. All print profiles have been renamed to reflect the new side-naming convention, so you can clearly see what fits together. This also helps MakerWorld’s summaries reflect more accurate print times; previously, the profile was reaching 11 plates and 9 hours of printing, which isn't accurate if you only want one tool.

This left the cores of the system. I didn't want every file to require other downloads just to be complete, so I’ve kept the spiked end caps with their matching rollers. This way, if someone wants to print a single spikey stim tool, they can do just that as a stand-alone print. Smooth and ridged end caps have now become the "accessories" found in the collection.

New MFST Collection

As I kept adding files, it became impossible to backlink everything to each other. I’ve made a collection to house every MFST print file. Every file has a photo with a back-link attached; if you click it, you’ll be sent to the collection where everything is clearly named. My hope is that this helps people find the end cap files more easily, but let me know if this works well for y'all!

Updated Geometry

I have read each comment and made changes to fix reported issues. These updates include:

  • Brim Settings: To help users on bed-slingers whose rollers were coming off the bed, I’ve added an 8mm wide brim with a 0.2mm offset. It stays secure but comes off cleanly.
  • Mirror-Ended Rollers: Many users wanted to attach two of the same spinner (like two ratchets). Since those both use the Side A screw, I created "Side AA" and "Side BB" rollers so you can have matching ends.
  • Smoother Spin: I updated the geometry of the small screw so smooth-spinning end caps spin faster and longer.
  • Button Clicker: I updated the geometry to work with most keyboard switches, including MX and Kailh styles.

New Naming Convention

Since the original file was a one-off, I hadn't named it with an intensity level. The old "Normal, Medium, Extreme" naming was confusing, so I’ve switched to Low, Medium, and High. Please note: this means the old "High" and new "High" are not the same. I've also added the "Side A/B" suffix to all parts for clearer assembly.

New Joystick & Stubby Rollers

  • Joystick: The most requested feature is here! This is a print-in-place file that pops off the plate and attaches immediately. It uses a Side B connection to give more function to that side of the tool.
  • Stubby Rollers: These are single-sided, shorter rollers for a more portable option. I felt the original was a bit big for a keychain, so these are perfect for on-the-go. They come in Spikey, Ridged, and Techno textures in all intensity levels.
    • The New Techno Texture is more of an aesthetic print that has a no-AMS multi-color aspect to it and looks great!

Markets!

I started working on this project last summer while selling at farmers' markets. I had a "Fidget Clicker Bar" that kids loved, so I wanted the MFST to have that same interactive element. For the sellers out there: you can print these in a bunch of colors and place them in bins for an interactive "Build-Your-Own" station. If you’re interested in selling these, please check out my membership for a commercial license.

Conclusion

I’ve got even more parts in testing that I'll be adding soon. All of this was thanks to the feedback and support of the community, so again—THANK Y'ALL!
