I advocate for free and open source software which I use to generate my models. The source files are generally included, so that anyone who wants to modify or build upon my projects can do so using free available tools without compromising their freedom. My most used tools for 3D modeling and image creation are OpenSCAD, FreeCAD, Blender, Gimp, Inkscape and MyPaint.
I’m excited to explore MakerWorld’s MakeLab tool! This robust and user-friendly customizer is a great step forward for parametric design, much like the Thingiverse Customizer but more reliable. Parametric models empower users to adapt designs to their preferences and printer setups (e.g., tolerance, nozzle size, print orientation: example). However, I hope to see 2D file exports, console logs, and expanded licensing options soon. Kudos to the team for this innovation!
