thank you for this amazing model! It took more than 30 hours to print (I printed using the ultra-fine .08mm per layer profile. And due to my own lack of experience the handle kept failing) but once I worked out the zhop and support issues everything orinted great. I used a filament that glows blue for the blade, silver for the pommel and guards, and coffee brown for the hilt. For the silver pattern on the hilt I decided to gild it so, I used an ultra fine tip paint brush to brush on sizing. Then I applied silver leaf sheets and used a 1 inch dry brush to apply the leaf and brush away excess. I used alcohol, a dental pick, and a q-tip to clean up any stray bits of leaf. Then I used the fine point brush again to apply a transparent varnish coat over the leaf to protect it. It doesn't look perfect but I think it looks pretty darn good considering I'd never done gilding before. The three photos are with flash, without flash, and in the dark.
