BOM Sales Commission Incentives Feature Update
Dear Creators,We’re pleased to announce an important upgrade to the BOM (Bill of Materials) sales commission incentives feature, designed to help more creators earn commissions earlier and more directly from their designs. What’s NewPreviously, except for successfully reviewed CyberBrick models, each model needed to reach the following threshold to be eligible for sales commissions: Downloads + (Prints × 2) > 2,000. This eligibility was evaluated on a per-model basis. This threshold requirement has now been removed.Effective immediately, once you have sales commission incentives access activated, all of your models that include items in the BOM are eligible to earn sales commissions—including existing models and future uploads.Eligibility is now evaluated at the creator level, rather than per model. Please note: commissions generated from previous orders will not be retroactively issued. Transition Arrangement for Historical ModelsWe understand that some creators were actively working toward the previous threshold Downloads + (Prints × 2) > 2,000 in order to earn points incentives under the Maker's Supply Creator Incentive Rules. As this incentive has now been retired, we’ve introduced a transition arrangement. This transition includes models that previously added Maker’s Supply Kits and Parts to their BOM, met the threshold of downloads + (2 × prints) > 2,000, and entered the review system before 00:00 on February 22 (UTC+8).These models are eligible to earn reward point incentives, calculated in accordance with the rules announced on December 16, 2024, which will be issued progressively. They are also eligible to receive sales commissions. Why We Made This ChangeUnder the previous system, sales commission access was mainly determined by:1. Maker's Supply Creator Incentive Rules 2. CyberBrick Fast-Track for Sales CommissionDuring implementation, we received consistent feedback from creators that the system created unnecessary friction:High thresholds: Many high-quality models required significant effort but struggled to reach the threshold, resulting in no commissions before the threshold was met.Delayed rewards: Points incentives relied on manual processing, leading to longer timelines and delayed payouts.Creator earnings have always been a top priority for MakerWorld. As a result, we’ve decided to retire the points incentive within the Maker's Supply Creator Incentive Rules (this is separate from the general MakerWorld points system) and move toward a simpler, commission-first model. Temporary Application Process(Before the New System Fully Launches)We want to improve the commission incentives rules to allow more creators to become eligible for this commission incentive activated, and also improve the rules for the Separate Hardware Kits Product Page in the store, etc. Due to ongoing development and optimization, the full system update is expected to be completed in Q2 of this year.To avoid delaying creator earnings, commission payouts are enabled first, while the existing application process remains temporarily in place.Creators that are already eligible and participating in the Commission Incentives will not need to re-apply and are automatically eligible for these new sales commissions. Before the new system goes live, creators may manually apply for sales commission incentives access via:"Creator Center → Commission Incentives"Please note: The rules shown during application may still reflect the previous version. In such cases, this announcement should be considered an authoritative reference. How to activate Sales Commission Incentives Access (Current Rules)Once you meet any one of the following rules, you can manually apply for access in the “Creator Center -> Commission Incentives” section.1. One of your models that includes Maker’s Supply parts in the BOM has reached Downloads + (Prints × 2) > 2,000, calculated from the date the BOM was first added.2. You have successfully published a CyberBrick model. Your benefits (Once Activated)Earn Sales Commissions via BOMFor all existing and future models, as long as you add items to the BOM—including Maker’s Supply Kits and Parts, Bambu Filaments, or Bambu Materials—you will earn sales commissions when users complete purchases through the BOM section on the model page, provided there is no cancellation or refund within 14 days. All commissions are credited in cash directly to your account.Illustration of purchasing via the BOM section: "The 'Bill of Materials' section above the model's 'Description'"Commission Rates OptimizedAs part of this update, commission rates for certain products have been increased. Our goal is to return more value to high-quality creators and better support sustained, original creation.Examples of current commission ranges:Maker's Supply Kits and Parts: 3%–15%CyberBrick Kits and Parts: 15% (limited-time incentive)Bambu Filaments: 5% and aboveBambu Materials: 5% and above FAQ1. Do I have to add a BOM? How can I opt out? No, the BOM sales commission feature is optional and not mandatory. If you prefer not to use this feature, you may simply choose not to add BOM items to your models. If you wish to disable this commission feature, please email creators@makerworld.com with your MakerWorld account link, and we will assist you. 2. How do I withdraw commissions?Sales commissions can be withdrawn via the Wallet feature. 3. Can I add unrelated items to earn more commission? No. To ensure a good user experience, please only add items to the BOM that are relevant to your model. Abuse of the feature by adding unrelated items may result in the commission feature being disabled. 4. How can I confirm that sales commission incentives access is enabled? If you can see "Data Overview" and "My Account Information and Commission Rules" under Creator Center → Commission Incentives, this means your sales commission incentives access has been activated.5. How can I view commission ratios, order transaction details, and other related info?View which models are eligible for sales commissions "Commission Incentives -> Data Overview -> Model List -> Stage 1"Check commission ratios"Commission Incentives -> My Account Information and Commission Rules -> Commission Rules -> Commission Ratio"Please note: Maker's Supply Kits and Parts, Bambu Filaments, and Bambu Materials are determined based on multiple factors, including product margins and market conditions.
