Cable Buddy - Panda
Hey everyone, I want to share the latest addition to my CripWorks designs: The Cable Buddies. I was looking for a way to stop my charging cables from bending and breaking at the connector, and I decided to make a cute and functional solution.
The concept is simple. The Cable Buddy essentially "bites" onto the end of your cable. This not only protects the weak spot of the cord from wearing out, but it also gives you a much better grip when you are unplugging your devices. It is designed to fit standard USB-C cables comfortably.
As you can see from the pictures, the print requires some support material under the belly and inside the mouth area. This is honestly somewhat fiddly to remove - a small flat screwdriver did the trick for me. Just be careful not to break off the teeth.
It took quite a while to design and color them. I redesigned the USB cable to make it more suitable for different USB-C cable types. As a workaround for not repainting them after the redesign, I simply added the new cable as a negative → This should not be removed in the slicer.
Print Recommendations:
- Material: PLA or PETG works perfectly fine. PETG is my favorite as it is a little more sturdy.
- Layer Height: Variable layer height for more details.
- Infill: 15%
- Fuzzy Skin: Enabled
- Supports: Skinny tree
This Panda is part of a larger Cable Buddy series I am working on, so keep an eye out for more animals coming soon. I hope you enjoy printing this little guy as much as I enjoyed designing it.
