Description

printable hammer with replaceable pads.

to add strength to the handle I added a threaded rod. The weak part is the layers near the head. You might ad threaded rod as I did or just a bolt or screw long enough to go into the handle a ways. The hole is for a ¼-20 thread 3" or longer, or M6x 75mm or longer. but could change to any size you choose. The thread is mainly to add strength. and add a little weight.

you might change the infill to make it heavier or print faster.

you might print the pads out of a TPU with different amounts of infill. making the pad harder or softer. I choose one pad of PLA with 50% infill, and one of a TPU with 30% infill. The Infill has a great impact on how hard TPU.  Most TPU's are most affected by infill rather than material hardness. It depends on what material is used.  You will need to adjust to your preferences.

this is not for hammering nails or hard objects. But is perfect for “encouraging” parts to fit.

Another hint is to print it with lower infill  and use something like gyroid infill. After printed add sand to head. It makes it a non-bounce, and give it weight. A non-bounce it is a “dead” hammer that doesn't bounce.  I added tape around it to help add the sand.

I added Fuzzy Skin to the handle for better grip. This will give it a good texture for gipping. When I print another I will try it.

Published a version 2 that has several improvements.
