Printing Suggestions

  1. No parameter adjustments needed, print directly
  2. If modifying parameters, ensure the layer height of the first two layers is no more than 0.1mm, otherwise the wings may be easily damaged
  3. Recommended to print with PETG, I have only tested PLA/PETG filaments, PETG performs better
  4. If printing a two-color plane, the initially selected main color is for the fuselage's reinforcing ribs. When choosing the wing color, it is recommended to use "height range" mode and select the bottommost layer from the bottom view

 

The reason I designed this glider was that I tried to print some airplane models from the community for my son to play with, but they were easily broken, especially at the connection between the fuselage and wings. So I referred to ideas from different solutions and redesigned this plane

 

Features of this design

  1. Longer and wider wings and tail, with a larger wingspan area
  2. The connections between the fuselage and wings/tail use curved joints and are reinforced with ribs, making them less prone to damage upon landing or hitting a wall
  3. The tail's end is designed with a backward-extending membrane, first to optimize airflow, and second to prevent warping at the end during printing
  4. The entire assembly is only 4.4g (when printed with PETG in a single color), but with better weight distribution and very stable gliding
