Description

Ford Focus ST

The Ford Focus ST makes a perfect desk trinket!

Background:

The original model was designed by Savelliy, but it was way too complicated to print. I removed all the inner details and solidified a lot of the smaller parts, such as the door handles and front/back grilles. I also disconnected the wheels so the car body could sit flat on the print bed. The wheels now print separately and snap on. They don't currently turn, but if people like this model, I could redesign the wheels to support ball bearings.

Printing:

The car body prints fastest when it is flat on the print bed. The front and back are angled upwards a bit so supports are necessary, but no one looks at the underside anyway. The wheels print separately.

I printed it in 5 colors by adding a pause at layer 102 and switching gold (headlights) for white (windows). I've included a print profile for this. If you don't care about the color of the taillights, you can use the 4-color print profile, which has both the headlights and taillights colored gold.

It also looks pretty great in a single color. The included print profile has the car body oriented at a 45-degree angle to minimize supports.

If you have issues with bed adhesion, please clean your build plate and consider using glue. I had no trouble printing this without glue.
