Book Clock

A unique clock design built from various types of books and literature! Each element of the clock represents a different type of publication, creating an interesting and creative design.

Each element represents a different kind of popular literature and more. Some elements go beyond typical books, such as the four, symbolizing a photo album, or the six, representing the modern form of books, the e-book.

• 10 – a book combining classic and modern styles, telling the story of cinema.
• 11 – another characteristic type of catalog.
• 12 – a return to the core concept of the project and the main, classic symbol of the entire clock face.

The project is not only visually interesting but also easy to execute – designed to minimize printing time.

The models are designed to be easily printable on any 3D printer, while maintaining as much detail as possible and allowing for a customizable choice of colors without the need for additional modules like AMS.

The number models use exposed infills to enhance the visual effect of the entire clock, while also allowing for easy customization of both color and infill patterns.

The versatility of the design makes the clock fit perfectly into different interiors and styles. Thanks to the use of many unconnected elements, the diameter of the clock face can be easily adjusted to suit your needs, and the style of the hands can be customized as well, since they are not among the printable parts of the clock and need to be purchased separately with the mechanism.

Each number on the clock face features a simple and universal mounting system that doesn't require permanent attachment of the elements. This makes it easy to remove and change them without the need to drill new holes. Just gently lift the element and take it off – it's that simple!

Mounting is possible on screws or nails with a maximum head diameter of 10 mm.

Additionally, special elements have been included in the project, allowing the clock to be mounted using double-sided tape – without the need to drill holes or hammer nails.

The choice of clock mechanism is up to you! The project is compatible with all quartz mechanisms, and the files include a printable cover that fits most of them if the mechanism doesn’t come with its own cover.

A few installation tips:

1. Before drilling or attaching mounting hooks, check the length of the minute hand (or any other longest hand on the clock mechanism) to ensure that the elements won't get in the way. It’s always better to leave an extra few centimeters of clearance!
2. Remember that each consecutive number on the clock face should be offset by 30° to ensure the hands indicate the correct hours.
3. Make sure the clock is clearly visible from all areas of the room. It's always better to place it a little higher than originally planned.
4. The clock design is optimized for printing with PLA material, so if you're using PLA, make sure the clock won’t be exposed to high temperatures – the material can deform under heat.
