Description
The Eagle Transporter, or simply Eagle, is a fictional spacecraft featured in the 1970s British science fiction television series Space: 1999. Eagles serve as the primary spacecraft of Moonbase Alpha, which possesses a fleet, and are frequently utilized for exploring alien planets, defending the Base from attacks, and transporting supplies and other objects to and from the Moon. The Eagle's design is attributed to Brian Johnson, a collaborator with Gerry Anderson on Thunderbirds in the mid-1960s, who also contributed spacecraft designs to the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.[1] The Eagle's design has influenced spacecraft depicted in Star Wars and other science fiction television series and films.[2]
