A modern desk or shelf lantern.
1 or 2 level lantern:
- 1st level: grid with magnet or cubic flat cover
- 2nd: cubic flat cover or just the grid lid
Print profile
- Material: shell in black PLA or PETG (matte recommended), diffuser panels in white or natural translucent PLA
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Walls: 3
- Top/bottom layers: 4
- Infill: 10 to 15 percent
- Supports: none (orient grid faces vertical; print the top grid flat)
- Diffuser thickness: keep panels thin (1.5 to 2 mm) so light passes
Assembly
- Print shell + base + 4 grid sides + top grid + diffuser panels
- Press the diffuser panels behind each grid face
- Put magnet on side grid and lantern skeleton.
- Feed the LED cable through the base holes (3x, around 4 mm)
- Seat a USB LED puck or low watt bulb inside, route cord out the base
