Pomodoro Study Timer — Arduino Nano

A desk-friendly productivity timer built around the Pomodoro technique, designed to help you stay focused and take proper breaks without staring at your phone or computer.

The device sits quietly on your desk and wakes up with a single press of the rotary encoder. From there, a simple menu lets you launch a study session, start a stopwatch, tweak settings, or put the device back to sleep. During a work session, five LEDs light up as a progress bar that slowly dims as time runs out — a gentle, glanceable reminder of how much time is left. When the session ends, the buzzer plays a short melody and the break timer starts automatically, cycling back and forth until you decide to stop.

Everything is navigated with a single rotary encoder — turn to scroll, press to confirm. The LCD displays the current mode and remaining time at all times. Three sound themes (gentle, upbeat, or simple beeps) can be selected in the settings menu, along with adjustable work and break durations.

Features

  • Pomodoro sessions with automatic work / break cycling
  • 5-LED progress bar that decreases over time
  • Built-in stopwatch mode
  • Configurable work duration (5–120 min), break duration, and sound theme
  • Round counter displayed on the LCD
  • Standby mode with one-press wake-up
  • Passive buzzer melodies at each session transition

Components: Arduino Nano · LCD 1602 · Rotary encoder · Passive buzzer · 5 LEDs · 220Ω resistors
