I design and engineer, it's my job and hobby, I have done for 15 years. I have been printing for around 10 years, and damn it's been a long 10 years, printers are now actually good. I started with a ebay kit which needed everything assembling, then had to replace firmware and stepper drivers as they weren't set up right. Constant misalignment of the Z axis and prints you basically had to glue to the Kapton tape to get to print. Fast forward to now, you buy a printer, turn it on and print.
