User Guide: Custom Parametric QR Code Sign

Follow these steps to generate your custom QR code, apply your text inside the MakerWorld Customizer, and print it with a crisp two-color finish.

Step 1: Generate Your QR Code Image

Before opening the customizer, you need a clean black-and-white image of your QR code link.

  1. Go to any free online QR generator (like Adobe Express QR Generator, Canva, or qr-code-generator.com).
  2. Paste your target URL link.
  3. Select a standard square layout with a solid white background and sharp black pixels.
  4. Export or download the result as a PNG file (keep the resolution around 300 × 300 pixels for optimal processing speed).

Step 2: Customize on MakerWorld

  1. Open this model page on MakerWorld and click the Customize button.
  2. Look at the left-hand configuration panel. Locate the QR Image Upload section and upload your saved qrcode.png file.
  3. Tweak your text elements:
    • Text_Layout: Choose if you want words on Top Only, Bottom Only, Both, or None.
    • Top_Text & Bottom_Text: Type your custom phrases (e.g., "SCAN ME", "MY INSTAGRAM"). The built-in guard engine will automatically shrink your font size if the words are long so they never spill past the border frame.
  4. Choose your Stand Settings to adjust how far back the integrated legs stretch.
  5. Click Generate to refresh the 3D preview. Once satisfied, click Download 3D Model to save your customized file.

Step 3: Slicing in Bambu Studio (Multi-Color / AMS Setup)

Depending on whether you have a Bambu AMS (Automatic Material System) or are manually changing spools, choose your slicing method below:

Method A: Automatic AMS Multi-Color (Recommended for Zero-Waste)

Because this model embeds distinct color blocks from the customizer, the AMS handles everything automatically. For the cleanest possible surface finish and almost zero wasted purge plastic, print it face-down:

  1. Open Bambu Studio and drag your downloaded custom model onto the build plate.
  2. Select the Lay on Face tool from the top toolbar (or press F).
  3. Click directly on the front face of the sign (the flat surface containing your text and QR code). The model will instantly flip upside down, flushing the text against your build plate.
  4. Bambu Studio automatically maps your AMS slots to the file colors (e.g., Slot 1 = Black Base, Slot 2 = White Text).
  5. Click Slice Plate. The AMS will only swap filaments for the first 3 layers to lay down the crisp text design, then seamlessly complete the rest of the backing plate in a single solid color.

Method B: Manual Layer-Height Filament Change (No AMS)

If you do not own an AMS, you can still print this beautifully by treating it as a traditional stacked print:

  1. Load the model flat on its back (text facing up).
  2. Set Filament 1 to Black and Filament 2 to White in your left-hand panel.
  3. Click Slice Plate and go to the vertical layer slider bar on the right side of the screen.
  4. Scroll down through the preview layers to the 2.0 mm height mark. This is the exact transition line where the black backing ends and the raised white text begins.
  5. Right-click the orange slider arrowhead, select Change Filament, and choose Filament 2 (White). Re-slice the file, and your printer will automatically pause at that layer to let you manually swap your spools.

Step 4: Printing and Assembly

  1. Send the file to your printer.
  2. The machine will start printing the backplate and integrated support stand wings in Black.
  3. At the 2.0 mm mark, the printer will automatically pause and prompt you to change spools. Purge the black filament, feed in your White spool, and resume the print.
  4. When finished, pop it off the bed! The sign is a single, solid piece that stands upright immediately on your desk with no assembly or glue required.
