Inspired by the fantastic models from BamBamDesign, I have created a version of the sunflower that incorporates mounts for standard 608 ZZ ball bearings.
Similarly, the leaves have a slightly different shape, and the center and rear fins feature a honeycomb pattern.

The stems are screwable.

Screw a piece in and back out, repeating the process until the stems are assembled. This guarantees damage-free assembly.
I recommend rinsing the grease from the ball bearings and then lubricating them with a light oil. This will make them significantly smoother.
I also recommend placing the bearings in the refrigerator or freezer before insertion. This simplifies insertion considerably.

Assembly is as shown in the image. Child's play :-)

Optional Update
I have designed a new mount for bearings and an M8 nut. This allows the sunflower to be mounted on a threaded rod. In my case, the stems always became warped under strong sunlight.
