Description
This is a sleek, modern ribbed self-watering planter designed to use a wick for drawing water from the base to the top section.
The hole in the top container has a diameter of 4 mm, so be sure to choose a wick of appropriate size. I recommend using nylon cord with a diameter of 3–4 mm for optimal performance. Polyester or synthetic microfiber cloths are also suitable alternatives. However, avoid using cotton, as it is an organic material that will eventually decompose.
For best results - slice it using OrcaSlicer. Orcaslicer is better at handling the curved overhangs at the bottom of the two parts.
Is it watertight?
That depends on the material and print settings. When I printed it using Bambu Lab matte PLA, it remained watertight. However, when using PETG-HF, it began leaking after a few hours. To prevent potential damage, avoid placing the planter on sensitive surfaces until you have tested its waterproofing.
For enhanced waterproofing, I recommend applying a thin layer of TiteBond 3 on the inside of the base. Titebond 3 is a wood glue that is FDA-approved once fully cured. This will help ensure a leak-proof finish.
