Description

1 year update: This has been in use for over a year without issue. the only problem I've had: If I let the lid slam, the magnets aren't strong enough to hold the halves together and it will pop loose. So I just don't slam the lid and it's not an issue.

Magnetic Double Boveda Pack Holder for Humidors

Keep your cigars in perfect condition with this innovative double Boveda pack holder! Designed for cigar enthusiasts who have transitioned from the traditional distilled water method to the more reliable Boveda packs, this two-piece system is a game-changer for humidor organization and humidity control.

  • Base Plate: Securely adheres to the underside of your humidor lid with high-quality double-sided tape. Six embedded magnets ensure a strong, reliable connection.
  • Ventilated Pack Holder: Holds two Boveda packs in separate compartments with slats for optimal airflow, ensuring consistent humidity distribution throughout your humidor. The reciprocating magnets provide a satisfying click when attached to the base, keeping everything securely in place.

Features:

  • Keeps Boveda packs out of direct contact with your cigars, reducing clutter and maximizing space.
  • Ensures perfect humidity levels for premium cigar preservation.
  • Easy installation and maintenance – simply replace the Boveda packs as needed.

Dimensions:

  • 8.6" x 6.625" x 0.75"  (218.44mm x 168.28mm x 19.05mm) thick when both pieces are joined together with magnets.

Supplies:

Designer’s Notes & Issues I encountered:

  • I printed this in PLA, and it printed beautifully with tree supports on the "wings."
  • Potential Issue - After waiting for the build plate to cool completely, I removed the parts without issue, but both pieces warped slightly in opposite directions after removal.
    • To fix this, I placed the base on the build plate, magnets-side down, and warmed up the plate until it flattened out. For the holder portion, I flipped the base plate over on the build plate to magnets up, then set the holder portion against the built plate in the correct orientation even though the warping kept some of the magnets from touching. I then set a few books on top of the holder for a little downward pressure, and warmed the plate again. This process only took a few minutes and then I let it fully cool to room temps before removing the books. This successfully removed the warping, as you can see in the pictures. The photos are of the same print that I “fixed”. While there are still faint waves if you look closely, they don’t affect functionality. and you cant see them once it's in place.
    • If anyone discovers a better method to print this without bowing or wrinkling, please share, and I’ll update the file!
  • Final note: I had little room to get my finger on the top of the holder to get it to pop out. I simply found a drawer knob on maker world and scaled it down to what seemed right, printed it off and super glued it in place. Looks great and works well, but may not be needed in your humidor.
