VERSIONS:
Version 1.6:
- added a supportive structure for the earth axis due to strength issues
- the model now requires 10 precision balls (instead of 7)
Version 1.5:
The crank torque is now increased by the factor 4. One crankrotation is now 12,5 days.
Please notice that the first 2 steps of the assembly guide are not correct anymore (switched gears of the axis and crank). Will update that soon. There has been a movement of the crank supports too, the platforms have other holes now and have to be printed again. Sorry for that!

Sun-Earth-Moon Model
This is my entry for the Physics Education Contest on Makerworld.
This model features realistic rotations, dependencies, and relationships between the Sun, Earth, and Moon.
The model serves as a realistic representation of how these three bodies interact with each other.
Furthermore, this model serves as an excellent visualization of mechanics and gears (in various configurations) and can also be used for simple demonstrations of mechanical principles.
Rotation durations:
All roations are in physical correct directions (counterclockwise from above-perspective)!
Sun: 25 days (Actually, the Sun has different rotational speeds at its poles (~35 days) compared to its equator (~25 days) due to its star characteristics)
Earth: 1 day
Moon: none
One crank rotation equals 12.5 days
Orbits:
Earth around Sun: ~365 days
Moon around Earth: 30 days
The distances and sizes of the spheres are not to scale.
The color of the Sun is also not accurate. The Sun is a G2V star (yellow dwarf). With a temperature of ~5,500°C (9,932°F), it emits white light. However, a bright orange was used for visualization purposes.
For assembly, the following parts are required:
10x 608 ball bearings (8mm x 22mm x 7mm)
10x precision balls (6mm)
