Description

Originally designed as a replacement for the RCKMNT-23-CMPCT mounting kit for my Cisco 3560CG, this has grown into a complete collection covering a wider family of Cisco compact switches. These brackets should fit most Cisco enterprise and small business compact switches in the 8, 12, and 16 port variants.

Two chassis styles, two mounting positions:

Cisco compact switches come in two distinct chassis styles: one with rounded/edged corners and one with a boxed rectangular profile. On top of that, each style is available in two mounting positions — giving you full flexibility depending on your preference or rack setup.

  • Flush
The switch is shifted slightly back so that the front face of the switch sits perfectly aligned with the face of the rack ears, giving a clean and nicer appearance.
  • Protruding

Matches Cisco's original mounting kit design, where the switch extends forward from the rack ears toward the user.

See the compatibility matrix below if you are not sure what is what.

Printing details

Print in PETG or ABS — do not use PLA. The heat generated by the switch itself, or ambient heat inside a rack cabinet, will deform PLA over time. PETG is recommended and has been tested successfully.

To prevent corner lifting, disable cooling for the first 20 layers. Print orientation is included in the print profiles, which have been optimized for both ease of printing and structural strength.

Hardware

The screws are two M5 10mm countersunk with imperial thread pitch, the standard metric M5 is not compatible, a quick and dirty fix for some may be to run a M5 metric tap in order to create new threads on top of the existing, it's not the best but i have done it in the past on some other ICT equipment successfully.

Compatibility matrix
*This model is for 8/12/16 port variants
Differences between "flush" and “protruding” versions.
Flush is shifting the switch a few millimeters to the back of the rack so the ears and the facia of the device are flush in relation to each other.
Protruding is as per the original design of Cisco ears, the device is protruding towards the user, just as the pictures in the title.

Rounded style should be compatible with the below:
Cisco 2960-C series
Cisco 2960-CX series
Cisco 3560-C series
Cisco 3560-CX series

Boxed style should be compatible with the below:
Cisco 1000 series
Cisco 1200 series
Cisco 1300 series
Cisco Business CBS 250
Cisco Business CBS 350
ME-3400 Series
ME-2400 Series
ME-3400G-2CS switch
