Drill Grinder Attachment for 125 mm Angle Grinder

For 1.5mm - 10.5mm drills

I offer a drill grinder attachment compatible with 125 mm angle grinders. The attachment boasts an 118° grinding angle and a design enabling effortless mounting and secure placement over the bracket. This revitalizes both inexpensive, dull, and high-end drill bits, extending their lifespan and enabling countless additional holes.

The component maintains a 3 mm distance from the cutting/grinding disc, preventing unwanted abrasion of the 3D-printed part.

My test print utilized PLA; however, I recommend ABS or ASA for superior durability, with a minimum 50% infill. The significant friction generates considerable heat, exceeding PLA's thermal tolerance.

A comprehensive overview of safe angle grinder operation:

Accident Prevention Regulations (UVV) for Angle Grinder Use:

  1. Safety Regulations and Protective Measures:
    • Adherence to all relevant accident prevention regulations (UVV) is mandatory when operating an angle grinder. This encompasses the UVV "Operating and Storage Areas" and "Construction Work" regulations, vital for worker safety and injury prevention.
  2. Personal Protective Equipment:
    • Safety Glasses or Face Shield: Angle grinders generate sparks, dust, and potentially large fragments posing an eye hazard. Eye protection is paramount to prevent injury from flying debris.
    • Hearing Protection: Due to the angle grinder's considerable noise, hearing protection safeguards against hearing damage.
    • Protective Gloves: Protective gloves are recommended when handling the workpiece or the grinder to prevent injuries from the rotating disc.
    • Protective Clothing: Close-fitting, durable work attire, free from loose components that could become entangled in the machine, is essential. Long sleeves, trousers, and a sturdy work suit provide enhanced protection.
  3. Essential Safety Precautions:
    • Before each use, verify that all safety features (e.g., the guard) are correctly installed and fully functional.
    • Maintain a work environment free from flammable materials due to the risk of sparks.
    • Never operate the angle grinder with damaged or inappropriate abrasives.

Importance of Safety Glasses and Protective Clothing:

  • Safety Glasses: Angle grinders produce sparks and molten metal droplets that can cause serious eye injuries. Safety glasses provide crucial protection against these hazards.
  • Protective Clothing: Hot sparks and flammable materials can ignite clothing. Protective clothing mitigates burn and skin injury risks. Loose clothing poses a significant entanglement hazard in the rotating disc, potentially leading to severe injury.

Conclusion: Angle grinder use demands utmost caution. The legal requirement and paramount importance of safety glasses, hearing protection, protective gloves, and appropriate work clothing cannot be overstated, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

Update V3.0

The component has undergone a complete redesign!

It now includes a version adaptable to support plates. The support plate I used measures precisely 20mm, ensuring a perfect fit!

Update V2.0 added on January 16, 2025

  • Improvements
  • A chamfered insertion provides 7mm of additional clearance for the grinding/cutting disc

  • Locking mechanism for the opposing component

Most likely dangerous. Do not use this. An angle grinder got 10k RPM. The discs are designed to grind material at the front not at the side. You will grind the disk weak with the drill bit on an inner diameter up to the point that the disk will break. All the chunks of the disc from your weakened diameter to the outer diameter (125mm) may fly around. Hit some thing or some one.

Thank you for the criticism However, there are plenty of Velcro sanding discs that can be excellently installed and used With the weaknesses of a normal cutting disc, use is strongly discouraged, I fully agree Therefore, I have introduced a V2.0 whose distance to the disc is set more than 7mm higher to allow the installation of other discs

not so good fit on the makita grinder. very tight to slide on the guard

That's precisely what it should be! For it can sometimes slip due to vibrations from the guard, so I deliberately made it tighter to prevent that… It's also important to consider and question the safety aspects involved… not just the effort one puts in oneself
