Description

Why have a model airplane when you can have a futuristic-looking fighter jet that spins around the world with a flick of a finger. It's printed in 6 pieces that snap together for minimum supports and color changes, no glue or painting required.

Created from scratch in Onshape, everything is fully scalable and adjustable as you see fit. The plane object is composed of parts for easy color and size customization.

You only need one bearing slotted on the top of the dome for the spinning to work, but adding 9 more to the bottom for weight makes sure the whole thing won't fly off your desk if you flick it a little too hard.

ETA: I added holes at the bottom of the jet to insert 3 8mm stainless steel balls to make the jet heavier.

A simple and elegant design that took many test prints to get just right. Hope you all enjoy!

So I'm looking to print this, but this will be my first time buying stuff other than filament to make it. I found bearings on Amazon You said 8mm is it Inner ring 14 total length from point to point?

The inner ring is 8mm and the outer ring is 22mm. If you click on the Bill Materials under the image photo you can see the Maker's Supply items and the product pages have their dimensions. If you search Amazon for EA027 bearings the right ones come up.

Thank you! For the bearings, you can use three 8mm ones. The link to them is in the Maker Supply list at the bottom of the model. Hope that answers your question!

can you find a way to add weight to the jet to increase its inertia amd get more spins?

Interesting idea! I added three holes at the bottom to insert 8mm stainless steel balls which makes the jet much heavier. Interestingly enough, it seems to have more inertia with the holes but without the balls! The print profiles have been updated - let me know what you think!

Yes! Not sure why it didn't show it as available! ETA: Apparently the automatic compatibility doesn't work with print by object, so I added a second profile.
