   The Hu Xueyan Former Residence, situated on Yuanbao Street in the eastern part of the Hefang Street and Dajiang Lane historical and cultural protection zone in Hangzhou, was constructed in the eleventh year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1872), coinciding with the zenith of Hu Xueyan's career. This opulent project spanned three years, culminating in its completion in 1875. The completed residence is a resplendent dwelling, exquisitely blending traditional Chinese architectural elements with Western stylistic influences. Extending north to south and east to west, it encompasses 10.8 mu (approximately 7,200 square meters) of land, with a building area of 5,815 square meters. From its architecture to its meticulously chosen interior furnishings, the residence stands as a paragon of opulence, arguably the finest mansion of a Qing Dynasty magnate.
