Description

If you use a Sage / Breville 54mm portafilter, and the Smart Grinder Pro then this is for you!
I've been using the funnel for years, but wanted to get an Umikot WDT for it. The funnel for me is essential to prevent mess so the two needed to work together - I couldn't find one so I remixed to make one

In the 3MF I have included he specific funnel this is designed for, along with adjusted parts for the adaptation, which includes a deeper base and adjusted bottom section to fit the funnel

This is remix of the awesome Umikot (54mm Version) - Planetary Gear Spirograph Espresso WDT Tool (linked alongside) which is designed to fit over a funnel for the Smart Grinder Pro - you should follow the original assembly instructions at Umikot (54mm Version) - Planetary Gear Spirograph Espresso WDT Tool Remixed by redfoxdude - MakerWorld) however there are a couple of important and notable changes to the original assembly instructions

To account for the increased depth;

  1. Wherever you see 65mm needle, you should use a 74mm needle (note as standard the needles that I purchased are 75mm - I did not need to trim mine but your mileage may vary)
  2. Wherever you see 55mm needle, you should us 64mm needle

Otherwise assemly is identical

Hope you enjoy!

Great I also enlarged the attachment diameter for the portafilter now I can also place it directly onto a cone

hey printed your model and the base doesn't seem to fit the funnel on one side - is that expected? the whole umikot seems to be tilted this way

there shouldn't be a tilt - there is a small amount of space around the fit to allow for easy placement, but with uniform light vertical pressure that you will need in order to use it anyway you shouldn't have a tilt

had to file it down, now it's almost fine. is there a possibility you attached a wrong funnel or not a final version of the base?

No, I printed the file that's here so should work. I'll take another look at the file and can add a bit more space if filing was needed, but I'm not seeing the same issue and seems another person printed without the problem either. I will double check tho

Works great. I had a hell of a time getting the needles installed though. I ended up using a drill with the smallest drill bit I have to widen the holes a little bit. Only went down about 3/4 of the way so they still fit in snug.

thanks for the rating! you and me both on the needles - that comes from the original design but I think your printer and filament needs to be super dialled in for it to be a cakewalk! in any case, glad this helped someone out other than me!!

great stuff! looks and works perfect, except for a little issue with the base not sitting flush on the funnel - needed a little file

the funnel lip was a bit short, doesn't stay on well. I had to redesign it

fits really well on the Breville, had to reprint the gears cuz my power cut out halfway and had a layer shift but it's so smooth and satisfying to use now
