Description

Revolutionizing Cable Management: A Custom 3D-Printed Cord Organizer for the 70W Apple MacBook Charger

The new 70W Apple MacBook charger is a technological marvel, but managing its cable can be a challenge. That’s where my custom-designed 3D-printed cord organizer steps in, offering both functionality and style. Designed specifically to prevent wear and tear on the charging cable, this accessory is a must-have for anyone who values efficiency and aesthetics.

The Problem with Traditional Cable Management

Anyone who has owned a MacBook knows the frustration of dealing with tangled or damaged charging cables. Without proper storage, the cable is prone to kinks, frays, or even internal breakage. Over time, these issues can compromise the charger’s lifespan and potentially lead to costly repairs or replacements.

This inspired me to create a solution tailored to the 70W Apple MacBook charger—a 3D-printed cord organizer designed with both practicality and design in mind.

Features of the 3D-Printed Cord Organizer

  1. Perfect Fit for the 70W Charger
This organizer snugly attaches to the 70W charger, ensuring a secure hold. The dimensions were meticulously calibrated to align with the charger’s form factor, offering a seamless fit.
  2. Cable Protection
The model includes smooth, rounded channels to guide the cable during wrapping, reducing tension points and minimizing the risk of damage. Unlike traditional cable winders, which can compress or twist the cable, this organizer ensures a gentle wrap every time.
  3. Ease of Use
Wrapping and unwrapping the cable is a breeze. The design includes grooves to keep the cable in place, preventing accidental unraveling during transport.
  4. Aesthetic Appeal
This isn’t just a functional tool—it’s a statement piece. The organizer features a sleek, minimalist design that complements the charger’s modern look. Available in various colors, including white, black, and space gray, it can match any MacBook aesthetic.

Why 3D Printing?

3D printing allowed me to prototype and refine the design with precision. It also offers the flexibility to customize the organizer’s material and color to meet different needs. I used high-quality PLA filament for its durability and eco-friendly properties, ensuring that the final product is both long-lasting and sustainable.

Benefits for Users

  • Prolongs Cable Life: Reduces wear and tear, ensuring your charger stays in top condition for years.
  • Portable Design: Lightweight and compact, it easily fits in your bag, making it ideal for travel.
  • Stylish Accessory: Adds a touch of sophistication to your MacBook setup.

Conclusion

This 3D-printed cord organizer offers the perfect balance of practicality and design, ensuring your 70W Apple MacBook charger and his cable remain in pristine condition while adding a stylish touch to your setup. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a frequent traveler, or someone who values high-quality accessories, this organizer is an essential addition to your toolkit.

Print and model is great, but I can confirm this does not work with the American plug, model needs to be removed to use the charger.

I’m so sorry for that 😞 I don’t have at the moment the US plug, so I’m not able to create a US version. Please, contact me in private if you want the Fusion 360 project in order to modify it by yourself 👍🏻

No problem. I knew it probably wouldn’t work looking at the pictures, but wanted to test lol. Just confirming for others. The US charger is flush against the wall when plugged in, something like this just won’t work.

Looks like a great prin, however I dont think it would work well with an American style plug as it does not extend out as far from the body of the charger. It appears as though it would prevent you from plugging it in all the way to the outlet

Hi, thank you for your advice. Unfortunately I don’t have an American plug 😞 I’ll try to find one and I’ll try to develop a version for it 👍🏻

A good print, the only small flaw is that the usb-c cable can be put under strain if it is connected to the charger, due to that the organizer is just a little to deep so the cable bottoms out before the charger do so. Otherwise it gets the cable nicely organized.

great idea! Do you mind if i remix the core idea to be compatible with UK plugs? may I also suggest that a good way to attach this to the plug may be to have it plug into the attachment itself? that would protect the plug pins while you travel. i've had a few plugs be damaged in transit on flights and such.

feel free to modify it and add your version. Unfortunately, I don’t have a UK plug, so I wouldn’t know how to handle it. If you’d like, feel free to message me privately and I’ll send you the Fusion project I created.
